Vertical AI glossary 2026.
Clear definitions for B2B decision-makers. No jargon, no empty buzzwords, just the concepts that matter when choosing an AI solution in 2026.
A
Verticalized AI agent
An artificial intelligence system designed around a specific business (clinic, restaurant, transport, etc.) rather than a generic one. Includes industry vocabulary, native integrations, pre-built escalation rules and a calibrated tone. As opposed to a "custom GPT" that reuses a generic LLM with a prompt.
Anti-hallucination guardrail
A post-generation regex mechanism that rejects LLM outputs containing made-up ROI figures, unverifiable promises or data absent from the context. Crucial to prevent an agent from inventing a price or a time slot that does not exist.
Resend API
A transactional email sending API with a custom tracking domain. Used by Orkelia for brand isolation (recipients see the client's domain, not orkelia.com).
Approved (outbound status)
The status of an email awaiting send after human or automatic validation. Common bug: if approved_at is NULL, the auto-send cron does not pick up the email. Fix with an SQL backfill.
Free audit
Standard 2026 commercial format: 30 minutes by video call without a card to qualify a prospect's case. No commitment. If there's a match, next step: a trial or a paid Discovery.
B
Brand isolation
A guarantee that the recipient of an outbound email never sees the AI agent provider's brand. Implemented via a custom tracking_subdomain (CNAME), a reply_to pointing directly to the client's mailbox, and email senders under the client's domain. Critical for agencies and resellers.
Direct booking (Doctolib, Calendly)
Platforms specialized in appointment booking. Different from a conversational AI agent: Doctolib manages the slot, the AI agent manages everything that happens before/around it (questions, qualifications, reminders).
Bootstrap
A funding model based on one's own revenue (vs VC). Advantage: independence and long-term alignment with clients. Orkelia has been bootstrapped since April 2026.
Bounce rate
The percentage of outbound emails that bounce (invalid address, full mailbox). In B2B outbound 2026, the critical threshold = 2%. Above that, Resend/SendGrid suspend the account.
C
Patient acquisition
The process of responding to incoming patient requests (Instagram DM, WhatsApp, website form). Represents ~90% of a clinic's conversational volume, well beyond simple appointment bookings.
Reply classification (AI)
Automatic categorization of incoming replies in outbound via an LLM (typically Claude Haiku): interested, not_interested, question, wrong_person, out_of_office. Lets you prioritize human follow-up.
Claude (Anthropic)
A family of LLMs developed by Anthropic. Models: Haiku (fast, economical), Sonnet (balanced), Opus (powerful). Used by Orkelia in zero retention mode (no storage on the provider's side).
Buy cluster (insider)
A pattern where 3+ executives buy shares of their own company within a short window (30 days). A statistically predictive market signal (~+5-10% average outperformance over 12-24 months).
CNAME tracking
A DNS configuration that lets email tracking use a custom subdomain (e.g. track.clientdomain.com → links1.resend-dns.com). A key element of brand isolation.
Cold email
An email sent to a prospect who did not ask to be contacted. Regulated in the EU under GDPR opt-out (the recipient must be able to unsubscribe easily). Success depends on deliverability and personalization.
D
DKIM
DomainKeys Identified Mail — a cryptographic signature on outbound emails to prove authenticity. Required to pass Gmail/Outlook 2026 anti-spam filters.
DMARC
Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance — a policy that tells receiving servers what to do with emails that fail SPF/DKIM. Critical for deliverability.
Deliverability
The percentage of outbound emails that reach the inbox (vs spam, promotions, or blocked). In B2B 2026, good deliverability = 70-85% inbox placement.
DPA (Data Processing Agreement)
A GDPR contract that formalizes who processes which patient data, for what purpose, with which security measures. Must be provided BEFORE signing, not after.
Discovery (Tailor offer)
Phase 1 of a bespoke offer: audit + mapping + target architecture. Typically 7-10 days, billed at €2,500, creditable against the Build. The first step before a custom AI project.
E
Edge function (Vercel)
Server code executed at points of presence close to the user. Low latency. Max limit of 60s on the Vercel Hobby plan. Used by Orkelia for all public APIs.
Email warmup
A phase of gradual sending (15-25 emails/day) to build the reputation of a new email domain before high-volume sending. Without warmup, the domain will be flagged as spam immediately.
Escalation (urgency)
Automatic routing of a conversation to a human when the agent detects an out-of-scope or critical case (life-threatening emergency, complaint, minor). Mandatory configuration for AI agents in healthcare.
14-day trial without a card
Standard 2026 format: signup in 60s without requesting a payment card, full access for 14 days, automatic deactivation if there's no subscription. Removes perceived friction.
F
Family Office
A private wealth management structure (typically €5-500M in assets). A high-ticket target for stock-market intelligence tools like Predator (price €1,497/month).
FAQPage Schema.org
Structured markup that lets Google display FAQs as rich snippets in search results. Important for SEO visibility and citation by LLMs.
Form 4 (SEC EDGAR)
A mandatory filing by US executives of listed companies for any purchase/sale of their own shares. Public, free, usable as an investment signal.
G
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
A 2026 discipline that optimizes a site to be cited by LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini). Includes llms.txt, dense Schema.org, factual content, internal linking, and LLM-friendly structuring.
Guardrail (AI)
A technical safeguard that prevents an AI agent from drifting outside its business scope or producing unverifiable outputs. Implemented as post-gen regex, contextual validation, or fine-tuning.
D30 Guarantee (Orkelia)
A written promise: if the priority flow is not operational 30 days after activation, 100% refund of the setup and no billing for the 1st month. No justification, no friction. Standard guarantee on Orkelia subscriptions.
H
HDS
Hébergement de Données de Santé (health data hosting) — a mandatory French certification for storing identifiable patient data. Supabase eu-west-3 runs on AWS Paris, which is HDS certified.
Hub (branded house architecture)
A parent page that presents all of a brand's branches. For Orkelia: /branches with 6 cards (Clinic, Restaurant, Transport, Commercial, Trading, Shop).
I
Inbound webhook (Resend)
A webhook that notifies an application when an incoming email arrives on a configured domain (e.g. replies@inbound.orkelia.com). Captures prospect replies in outbound.
IndexNow
A push protocol initiated by Microsoft/Bing to notify search engines of new pages. Faster than waiting for the natural crawl.
Intake (outbound)
The process of automatically sourcing new prospects via Google Places API, Pappers, ICP scraping. With possible geo-weighted quotas (e.g. 25% France, 25% Spain).
L
Lead magnet
Free downloadable content (PDF, guide, calculator) exchanged for an email. Used to capture qualified emails. Orkelia example: Clinic AI Audit.
llms.txt
A 2026 standard (similar to robots.txt) that provides LLMs with a structured markdown summary of the site and its main pages. Improves citation by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini.
LLM (Large Language Model)
A language model trained on large amounts of text. Examples: Claude (Anthropic), GPT-4o (OpenAI), Gemini (Google). The technological core of conversational AI agents.
M
Managed service (vs self-serve)
An economic model where the provider operates the product for the client (setup, optimization, monitoring). More expensive on the surface but often cheaper in total cost than self-serve + SDR.
MIFID
Markets in Financial Instruments Directive — an EU directive governing investment services. Predator is NOT an investment service, it's an information tool for informed investors.
Review mode (vs autonomous)
An AI agent configuration where each proposed message must be validated in 1 click by a human before sending. Recommended during the calibration phase (2-4 weeks), then can be disabled to switch to autonomous mode.
N
No-show
A patient/client who does not show up for their appointment without cancelling. Typical rate 12-18% in aesthetics. Direct impact on revenue. Mitigation: personalized day-before reminder + automatic waitlist.
O
OG image (Open Graph)
The image displayed when sharing a page on LinkedIn/Twitter/Slack. Dynamic generation possible via /api/og + @vercel/og (1200×630 PNG).
Open rate
The percentage of outbound emails opened by the recipient. Measured via an invisible 1×1 pixel. In B2B cold 2026, benchmark = 25-40%. Below 15% = deliverability problem.
Outbound (B2B)
A commercial strategy where the company proactively contacts prospects (cold email, LinkedIn, cold call) rather than waiting for inbound. Vs Inbound = SEO, content marketing, ads.
P
Personalizer (cold email)
An AI component that scrapes a prospect's site before each send and generates a personalized contextual opener. Reduces the risk of spam and increases the reply rate from 1-2% to 8-12%.
Polymarket
A prediction-betting platform (elections, geopolitics, economics). The odds form an aggregate market signal usable for trading (Predator integrates it).
Founder Program
Standard 2026 commercial format: the first N organizations benefit from a locked-in price, priority access to features and direct contact with the founder. In exchange: weekly feedback + a testimonial at day 90. Orkelia Clinic: 10 spots, 7 remaining.
R
Market regime
Dynamic classification of the market context (Bull Run, Normal, Correction, Panic, Rotation) based on VIX, DXY, trend. The weights of an asset's scoring change according to the detected regime.
Reply tracking
A system that automatically captures replies to outbound emails via an inbound webhook (Resend), classifies them with an LLM, and updates the prospect's status (interested, not_interested, etc.).
Healthcare GDPR
The specific GDPR regime for patient data: EU hosting, reinforced DPA, right to erasure within 30 days, anonymization before AI processing, audit logs kept for 12 months.
Rev-share
A revenue-sharing model between a platform and its partners. Standard partner program 2026: 70-80% to the partner, 20-30% to the platform.
S
Schema.org
A standardized structured markup vocabulary (JSON-LD) to help Google and LLMs understand content. Key 2026 types: Organization, Service, Offer, FAQPage, BlogPosting, DefinedTermSet (for glossaries).
SDR (Sales Development Representative)
A junior sales profile dedicated to sourcing + outreach (cold email, cold call, LinkedIn) to qualify leads before handing them to a closer. Total annual cost in France: ~€52K all-in.
SEC EDGAR
The US system for mandatory filing of regulatory documents (Form 4, 10-K, 8-K, 13F). Free public API, usable as a source of market signals.
Smart money
Investors presumed to be better informed (insiders, family offices, specialized funds). Their moves (visible via SEC Form 4) are an exploitable statistical signal.
SSO (Single Sign-On)
Single authentication via an identity provider (Google Workspace, Azure AD, Okta). Standard for Enterprise tiers (Group Orkelia, corporate plans).
Supabase
An open source backend-as-a-service (Postgres + auth + storage). Orkelia uses eu-west-3 (Paris) for all its data. AWS indirectly HDS certified.
T
Tailor (bespoke offer)
A commercial format for sectors outside the standard verticals. Discovery €2,500 → Build €15-50K → Run €1,500-5,000/mo. Orkelia example: /agent-sur-mesure.
Tracking subdomain
A custom subdomain used for pixel + redirect email tracking (e.g. track.clientdomain.com). Configured via CNAME at Resend. Prevents recipients from seeing the provider's domain.
V
Vertical (industry)
A specific business sector (clinic, restaurant, transport, etc.). In AI, a "verticalized agent" = an agent built around a precise vertical vs a generic multi-sector agent.
VIX
Volatility Index — an index of the implied volatility of the S&P 500. Measures market "stress". Below 17 = calm regime. Above 25 = stressed regime.
W
White-label
A configuration where a product is resold under a partner's brand (logo, domain, outbound emails). Activated via full brand isolation + configurable branding. The Group Orkelia tier includes white-label on request.
Workspace (multi-tenant)
A client's isolated space within a multi-tenant platform. Each workspace has its own config, its own data, its own branding. Supabase architecture used by Orkelia.
